Dr. Lewis S. Libby
Dentist
As a third-generation dentist, Dr. Libby has a long-standing relationship with the Baltimore area. Dr. Lewis S. Libby was born in Baltimore and attended Loyola College in Baltimore before graduating from dental school at the University of Maryland.
His father cared for patients in a blue-collar neighborhood of Baltimore for 32 years, and his grandfather acted as the town dentist in Old Town, ME from 1913 to 1952.
Dr. Libby served in the U.S. Navy active and reserve for 32 years and learned a lot as a commanding officer. He also served as the Pacific Fleet Dental Officer, a role in which he was responsible for planning humanitarian operations around the world.
He began practicing dentistry in Baltimore after serving as a dental officer in the Navy. He started practicing in Baltimore in 1978 and has practiced dentistry for over 40 years now. Many Baltimore-area families have entrusted their dental care to him for multiple generations.
He also played a major role in establishing a dental clinic in Haiti within the Bon Samaritan school in the city of St. Marc and traveled there regularly for ten years prior to the pandemic. In addition, he’s volunteered at the Esperanza Center in Baltimore, a non-profit organization that offers a variety of services to immigrants.
His favorite part of dentistry is meeting new people and learning about their lives and concerns. He’s very gratified when he can relieve discomfort or help them enjoy the appearance of their smile. He also greatly appreciates the trust his patients place in him.
